A tiny tropical island, even by Maldivian standards, Milaidhoo opened in late 2016 and proved to be one of the most exciting luxury openings the Maldives has seen. With an accent on connecting with the history of the Maldivian people, and combining it with airy, spacious villas both over-water and on terra firma, Milaidhoo is a fusion of tradition and contemporary design, warm service and total relaxation.

When building Milaidhoo, the mission statement was to create a sanctuary of simplicity that backed away from the increasingly grand resorts that have recently become the norm for the Maldives. You will not find underwater nightclubs or international DJs; this is the Maldives rebooted and back to basics – quiet, relaxed luxury in a tropical paradise.

The resort has 50 custom-made, spacious villas and residences, made from natural materials with thatched roofs that blend perfectly into the spectacular surroundings. Either positioned on stilts over the turquoise ocean waters or tucked away between palm trees on the beach, all villas have been designed to provide the utmost in comfort with traditional Maldivian elements throughout, from the 'undhoali' (swing chair) on the sundeck to the uniquely designed furnishings in the living space.

Focussed on providing an unforgettable sensory experience in relaxed and informal surroundings, Milaidhoo's signature restaurant is set on the deck of a traditional Maldivian sailing boat where you can dine underneath the stars or observe the sea-life through the glass floor. With two further restaurants and two bars, Milaidhoo caters to all tastes and desires.
