Day 6 | A Quiet Return to the Citadel An early, unguided return to Machu Picchu offers a different perspective—quieter, more contemplative, and entirely your own. Wander at your own pace as the morning light shifts across the ruins. Later, rejoin the train for a scenic return to Cusco, where you’re met and transferred to your hotel. Back in the city, the atmosphere feels vibrant yet manageable after the stillness of the mountains, providing a gentle re-entry into urban life.
Day 7 | Layers of Cusco Cusco unfolds as a city of contrasts. With your guide, explore the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuamán and take in panoramic views from Cristo Blanco. In the bustling San Pedro Market, everyday life plays out in vivid color, before stepping into the refined interiors of Qorikancha and the Cusco Cathedral. The best time to visit Peru and Bolivia is between May and September. The Sacred Valley's location and altitude result in two seasons, rainy and dry. The rainy season typically lasts from November to March, with the heaviest rains arriving in January and February.
In Bolivia, the very best time to go is also from May to September, which is the drier season in the Andes. However the rainy season brings with it great opportunities for keen photographers.
