After working up an appetite during a day out of adventure you will be rewarded with a delicious dinner! The restaurant has a daily changing menu that heroes local produce and as much as possible is sourced from the hotel’s own organic garden.
Located away from the main town of Puerto Varas, Hotel Awa offers tranquillity while only being a short journey to any outdoor adventures. While it will be hard to tear yourself away from the cosy lounges there is plenty to keep your diary jam packed – bird watching, kayaking, rafting, biking, fishing or hiking.
It is no surprise that the owner, Mauricio Fuentes, is an architect and designer. The hotel is incredibly striking, with a bold mix of glass and stone, modern contours and locally produced textiles.

With a striking architectural design and spectacular location on the shores of Llanquihue Lake (just outside of popular Puerto Varas), AWA is a unique gem and a beautiful base for exploring the natural diversity of Chile's Lake District.

Although contemporary, the property manages to respect its surroundings, with plenty of glass to maximise views of the beautiful scenery in all directions. Each of the guest rooms and suites boasts floor-to-ceiling windows too, looking out over the lake and the Osorno Volcano in the distance. Interiors are adorned with local materials and artwork, which echo the essence of the region.

Its' lakeside location, flanked by a private beach and marina, makes AWA ideal for enjoying a range of activities on the water, including kayaking and fly-fishing, whilst the nearby volcano and rivers also offer fantastic rafting, hiking and birdwatching.

Although the focus here is simply on enjoying the outdoors, AWA also manages to invite guests to make the most of their downtime, offering a luxurious spa, cosy bar and tantalising cuisine in the on-site restaurant. Rooms are sumptuous and luxurious; each comes furnished with a fireplace to tackle cooler evenings and plush bedding and blankets can be found throughout to ensure a comfortable sleep.

Top tip:

The sunsets from the Awa hotel are out of this world, as the lake facing part of the hotel has floor to ceiling windows they give the whole hotel a lovely pink hue. If you'd like an even more impressive view, head out onto the pier or even enjoy it from the glass-walled pool & spa area
