Your adventure begins in Nairobi, Kenya’s vibrant capital, where a seamless transfer takes you to a private charter flight soaring over the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at Saruni Mara Safari Camp, a secluded haven in the Mara North Conservancy. Relax in your elegant cottage with breathtaking savanna views before venturing on your first game drive at sunset, capped off with sundowners in the golden light of the Mara.
• Day 2: Begin the day with an awe-inspiring hot-air balloon safari over the Masai Mara’s plains. Witness herds of wildlife from above before landing for a champagne breakfast in the wild. Spend the rest of the day on private game drives, with a chance to spot the Big Five. Conclude the evening with a Maasai-inspired feast and cultural storytelling by the fire.
• Day 3: Start with a guided bush walk led by Maasai warriors who will teach you traditional tracking and survival skills. Return to Saruni for a relaxing spa treatment overlooking the Mara’s endless vistas. That evening, enjoy a private bush dinner under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the savanna.
• Day 4: Enjoy a final full day of safari adventures with morning and evening game drives. Between excursions, take advantage of Saruni’s tranquil setting, or opt for a photography lesson to capture the Mara’s beauty.
• Day 5: After breakfast, bid farewell to the Masai Mara as you transfer to Nairobi for your connecting flight to Mauritius.

Kenya: The annual rains are in April and May - game is easily visible and rates are cheaper at this time. November is considered the short rainy season, however, these are less predictable and are much lighter. The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October but the wildlife is present year-round, and there is always plenty to see here.
Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.
The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered far more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.
Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.
Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school holidays, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).
