Highlights
Aman Venice is a stunning beautifully restored historic palace
The hotel is packed with works of art and breathtaking architecture
The latest addition to the European Aman portfolio, it was famously chosen by George Clooney for his 2014 nuptials
Built in 1550 by a wealthy merchant family, this stunning edifice has been restored and renovated it to the highest specifications, making it Venice's must-visit hotel.
Back in 1865 the palazzo's owners hired architect Michelangelo Guggenheim to redecorate the piano nobile – the main living area of the palazzo. As a leading light in Neo-Renaissance and Rococo styles he re-imagined the space making it one of Venice's finest examples of these styles still surviving. His work has been restored to its former glory for guests to enjoy as part of their experience at Aman Venice.
When Aman wanted to create a luxury retreat in Venice they approached the current owner, Count Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga with their plans and the result is this immaculate preservation project. Sweeping staircases, beautiful balconies, a sumptuous ballroom, magnificent marble fireplaces and vivid frescoes abound. The Count's library is clad in embossed leather and holds an amazing array of books housed in the original walnut bookcases.
Despite its undoubted old-world charm the hotel wants for nothing as far as modern amenities are concerned. A further bonus is the hotel's verdant gardens, one of which opens for alfresco dining (weather permitting). The other, Canal Garden, fronts onto the canal and is one of very few private gardens on the water with mature trees and a charming sitting area.
Whether you're already an 'Aman junkie' or you are new to the Aman experience you can be sure that Aman Venice will not disappoint.
Guests arriving by boat will enter by the formal 'porta d’acqua’ into a vast, beamed reception with marble chequered flooring and original frescos.
